Overview
L-Space describes Pessimal investigating the Watch's finances and management for the Patrician. His administrative experience includes an earlier examination of Unseen University's procedures. Vimes initially encounters a very small, meticulously tidy official, with neatly parted hair and spectacles suspended from a ribbon.
Sworn in as a Special Constable, Pessimal unexpectedly attacks the troll Brick bare-handed. Vimes recognizes his courage and offers him an adjutant's position, beginning at Lance-Constable with accelerated promotion promised. His usefulness includes handling the paperwork and statistics that Vimes finds burdensome. This account stops at that appointment.
